Post Pet Meds is a New Zealand-based online pharmacy that’s certified to distribute prescription pet medications. The business was started by Linda Morgan in 2024, following her extensive
experience as a veterinarian.
Linda’s aim is to give pet owners a convenient and reliable way to buy pet supplies and prescription pet medications online and get them delivered to their door. Post Pet Meds is committed to quality and safety and all products are sourced from reputable suppliers and meet the highest standards.
“We launched in 2024 and my goal for the first year is to find our feet and build an awareness of what we do. We’re hoping to continue growing in 2025,” Linda says.
Working with Provet and Covetrus Ascend: Linda’s experience
Linda chose Provet as her veterinary wholesaler and distributor. With three strategically placed warehouses in New Zealand and seven across Australia, she was confident in Provet’s ability to supply her with products from a wide network of veterinary suppliers.
“It’s really useful to have access to a wide range of items that my customers might need,” she explains. “It’s also great to have somewhere that’s close to where I am [near Christchurch] and also have distribution options across the country.”
Linda selected Covetrus Ascend as her veterinary software of choice to run the business. “I’ve used several different software platforms in the past and found Ascend very user-friendly,” she says.
“I got the opportunity to test Ascend, which was very handy because it helped me figure out if it was going to be exactly what I needed. The trial also confirmed that Ascend was really easy to use and very intuitive – even before I had the training!”
Linda particularly enjoys the Provet team’s helpfulness and friendliness. “I find it very easy to get responses for quick questions – it’s just so easy to work with Provet,” she says. She singles out her Business Account Manager (BAM), Matt Cox, for his friendliness and commitment to making sure her business needs are met.
She confirms that the Provet customer service team are very responsive and reply to her emails quickly.
“I needed help getting set up with Ascend,” she says. “I asked for help to set up the stock codes and add products into Ascend. It was such an easy process working with local support, as well as the Ascend software team.”
She finds the product deliveries from Provet very quick.
“I can order something online and receive delivery the same day or the next day,” she explains. “If I want to, it’s nice that I can go into the Provet distribution centre to collect an order, as it’s really close by.”
Robust onboarding, training and support from Covetrus
Linda is also very complimentary about her onboarding and training experience with Covetrus Ascend. “I thought the implementation was easy and the training was really useful,” she says. “The one-on-one training was tailored to what I needed,” she adds.
“There are many features in Ascend that I know are there, but I don’t need to use at this time. So, it was very useful to have Ascend set up specifically for what I need.”
She concedes there are many processes and functions covered in training that are easy to forget, so the Ascend training videos are useful to refer to as a quick reference guide at any time.
Linda hasn’t needed to call upon the Ascend technical support team much but is happy with the service she’s received from the support team so far.
Key features of Covetrus Ascend
Linda uses several key features within Covetrus Ascend regularly. These include referring to previous activities and keeping track of inventory.
“I also really l love that Ascend is cloud- based,” she says. “I don’t have to worry about having a lot of on-site hardware and making sure my records are stored safely. It simplifies the storage of data for me a lot, securely.”
“It’s useful being able to check on things in Ascend on my personal laptop. Being able to log in from multiple locations is a great,” she adds. Being cloud-based, Covetrus Ascend is always up to date, unlike on-premises systems which need to be updated regularly.
Final thoughts
Linda confirms that using Covetrus Ascend’s intuitive workflows saves her time, compared with other systems she’s used. “I really love that it saves as you go, so you don’t have to remember to press ‘save’. If I accidentally forget to save, it saves me lots of time having to go back and retype things.”
“The layout lets me see multiple sections easily. And, while I might not necessarily need all the features now, I appreciate that I can see billing, lab features, and previous history. Ascend is useful for all these things, which would save any practice a lot of time,” she says.
She recommends Covetrus Ascend to any veterinary professional thinking of investing in cloud-based software. “It’s very handy that its cloud-based and it’s also very cost effective, efficient to use, and easy to set up.”
Although she hasn’t onboarded any new staff members yet, Linda confirms it would be easy to add them to her current Ascend subscription and train them. “The onboarding sessions are very detailed, and you also have reference videos to look back on. It’s great to be able to contact the team if you have any specific questions,” she concludes.
